Can you convert a regular reservation into a CAS reservation?

Here is my situation.

I get a CAS certificate through Caesars every February 1. The problem is that I can't book until I get that certificate, so certain popular cruises in, say, July, are always full by then.

This year I have the idea to just book the July 2018 cruise now (as if I'm just paying normally), and then when I get the certificate on February 1, call CAS and have them take over the reservation, and apply my certificate instead.

Provided it's still before final payment date (which it will be, even with the new 120-day policy), is this possible?

I asked that once (but it was a few years back and policies may have changed) and was told I had to cancel and rebook, however when you cancel your room will be available again, so if the CAS rep is quick you may be able to get that room back. Not sure what Caesars you go through (Canada or Vegas) but when they have the one at Caesars in Canada, they have NCL reps on site, maybe they would be able to do it.

I just thought of a better way to do this.

I will simply call up CAS and book a Caesars-discounted reservation, so it will be their reservation. Then when I get my certificate, I will apply that instead of paying regular money, and I'll do it before final payment date.

Pretty sure this will work and won't require a cancel/rebook.

Sure you can book this way, I just did. I phoned CAS, booked my cruise about a month before I received my certificate from a casino. Phoned the number on the certificate, had her cancel and rebook the cruise (with whatever the current extra perks were at the time of rebooking). Kept same cabin, same reservation #. So the only place you may lose out (or gain as I did) is with whatever extra perks NCL is offereing at the time you originally book and the time you rebook under your certificate.

But it still was a cancel and rebook for me, but all done in one phone call and just a matter of paperwork on NCL end.

This was done way ahead of final payment, so cancelling and rebooking were an option for me.

If you are a regular NCL cruiser and frequent casino, you may be entitled to cruise from CAS Maybe it’s better than what you would get from Caesar’s.

Other than one blackjack tournament for fun, I don't play in the casino. Don't like the odds or the rake.
