LonelyTraveler Posted November 26, 2017 #1 Share Posted November 26, 2017 Hey all, I will be cruising next week on board the Carnival Imagination out of Long Beach CA, with my wife and 1 year old kid. We will not be carrying a car seat with us. What are the infant-friendly transfer options that we can consider? I was thinking about going with the Carnival airport transfer - it's pricier than Uber/shared shuttles, but I was thinking more about the convenience. Does anyone have experiences of using this service? What is the frequency of the shuttles? Also, are you allowed to take infants on board the shuttles, without a car seat? Moviela Posted November 26, 2017 #2 Share Posted November 26, 2017 You might want to rethink not bringing a car seat. California does not allow children to ride on the lap of an adult. You must have a child seat for any child that has not exceeded the height and age requirements of the law. None of the ride services from LAX will transport a child without a car seat. When my kids were small I looked like a pack animal carrying suitcases, car seat, stroller, and diaper bag when travelling. It was worth it. riffatsea Posted November 26, 2017 #4 Share Posted November 26, 2017 I believe that the Carnival transfer is in a bus which is not required to have safety seats. A Google search shows these companies offer car seats but I have no personal experience with them: https://saferidetransport.com/ This web site lists many more of them: https://mommypoppins.com/los-angeles-kids/family-travel/car-services-with-car-seats-getting-to-la-oc-airports-with-kids
solongshakespeare Posted November 27, 2017 #5 Share Posted November 27, 2017 We have used SuperShuttle out of LAX, and they will provide a car seat for snow additional charge. Our last time out we rented from Avis since our flight got in at 5am. We were able to rent a car for the morning and drop it off a mile from the port for $87 (with a car seat included). It allowed us to stop for breakfast and pick up a couple of bottles of wine to take on board.

The carnival transport bus runs I believe once an hour and cheaper when ordering online. But consider taking the carseat. It'll save you a lot more.
