calteacher Posted January 9, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 9, 2018 If a midship cabin is not available, does anyone have an idea of whether forward or aft is better to avoid motion related problems? I have been told that lower is much better than higher. Thanks.
2ndhoney Posted January 9, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 9, 2018 I usually book mid ship or aft, never forward. The more forward on the ship, the more it tends to bother me (and I do take Bonine as well)

The only caveat is that aft cabins (depending on how aft they are) can have vibrations and different movement. This bothers some people and doesn't bother others at all. Rare Lady Arwen Posted January 9, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 9, 2018 Lower cabins do tend to experience less motion. Forward cabins are more prone to the up and down motion of the ocean and vibration is sometimes quite pronounced in the aft cabins. Obviously, mid-ship, lower decks will be the most comfortable, but it's not always possible to do so. We've done all manner of cabins in different locations and for folks who tend towards seasickness, I would think that aft would be preferable to forward. That being said, it depends on the ship, the itinerary and good old Mother Nature! One just never knows what to expect on a cruise!
