London Hotels near Gatwick

We are taking the Dover to Dover cruise on Constellation in May 06 and must stay an extra night on May 20th to catch our flight the next day from Gatwick. Any suggestions on hotels near Gatwick that may have a shuttle to airport? Also, any suggestions as to cost from Dover to Gatwick hotels?

We are on the Connie on 20th May - please leave her in good shape! As for hotels around Gatwick, the Hilton is actually attached to the airport terminal and is very good for an overnoght stop. Or depending on the time of your flight next day, if it is not too early, you could stay in the Canterbury area to soak up a bit of English history and then travel up next day. Woodford Chaufeurs are spoken of highly by others, we will be using them that day as coming from the UK we are for once in our cruising life blest with a short flight!

You will find a lot of comment about various hotels and options on the Britain ports of call board

Enjoy your trip

As the above poster stated, pop over to the Britain Board. There is one particular frequent poster who gives fabulous advice on anything England. I found him to be a great source of info when I went to London last year.

We stayed a day on each end of our Baltics cruise at the Gatwick Thistle, which is a couple of miles from the airport, but has shuttle service to and from. The hotel had nice large rooms and we were upgraded each of the two nights. There is also a restaurant in the hotel, and there is a pub on the premises which seemed to attract a lot of locals and was quite lively. It was also a relatively quiet neighborhood where walking after dinner in the dark was a safe option.
