Did I read somewhere where you have to request ice bucket now? Could the bucket you get beers in be used for ice bucket? We have a small cooler for insulin. We used gallon ziplocks last time to put in cooler. It still was wet so we put in shower. Was thinking we could put ice bucket in cooler., then put ice in bucket .Cooler is a round 11x 11 collapsible one. Would this work?

That's what we got the week before last on the Imagination. I asked our cabin steward to keep our ice bucket replenished with PLENTY of ice and he brought a large plastic beer bucket brimming with ice.

We requested an ice bucket daily. A small metal ice bucket was delivered. We said the first day we met our cabin steward that we were putting the ice bucket in the mini fridge (really more like a cooler then a fridge though) to keep the inside of the fridge cooler since they don't get very cold. You can pull the fridge out (on the older ships) and adjust the temperature knob up to as cold as it will go which will also help. Our steward was great & placed the metal bucket of ice inside the fridge for us every morning!

I encourage you to read Carnival's info on insulin-related questions.

Beyond that, ice in cabin is on a request basis from your cabin steward. In my experience, you can either request an ice bucket, or to have ice replenished in your own cooler (12x12" or smaller).

We were on the Breeze last year, and being used to older ships, asked for ice twice a day so we could keep our sodas and bottled water cold. However we were pleasantly surprised that our fridge actually kept the beverages as cold as we could ever want them!

We ended up telling the steward to drop the ice to once a day. We also used a small collapsible cooler, with a hard plastic liner so we didn't need to worry about condensation as much.

Thanks for the link... DH is diabetic and we always order the sharps container. We also bring a collapsible cooler for his insulin. Some ships (newer maybe?) have better working fridges... the Breeze fridge was as cold as the one we store his insulin in at home.

I think the important take-away for diabetics is to NOT rely on Carnival's cabin mini-cabin-fridges due to temperature problems, and to take advantage of Carnival's alternative options. Check with the Guest Services desk onboard. I'm not diabetic, but if I remember correctly from previous posts, they can help you out with information about more stable temperatures for storing insulin.

Hope you have a great cruise and stay safe.
