Couple of questions re: Illumination show on the Getaway

First Time NCL cruiser here. We are sailing on the Getaway in May with a family group of 14. Most of us have a four speciality dinner package. Can you do the Illumination show as one of the dinners? What’s the difference between banquet seating and floor seating? Is it worth it? One of our members talked to someone who said it was bad because you couldn’t see your food, waiters “crashed into others spilled drinks, etc”

Thanks for your input.

That show is now a Cirque show. You can use SDP for it, but you just get a discount.

I presume you mean the Illusionarium show.

Can you do the Illumination show as one of the dinners?

Yes, you can, but there's an upcharge: 10USD for regular seating, 15USD for premium seating, and 35USD for VIP seating. All the details can be found on NCL's website.

What’s the difference between banquet seating and floor seating?

One is nearer the stage, on large shared tables (a dozen or twenty or so pax). The other is further from the stage, in smaller booths. I'm sorry I don't remember which is which though!

Is it worth it?

If you like that sort of thing, then it is worth it. If you don't like that sort of thing then it's not. Do you like

It's that show anymore. It changed to Cirque Dreams.

It's now called Cirque Dreams and Steam ... we attended it and loved it - the best Cirque show we have ever seen on NCL.

Many of us were apprehensive about booking and going to see it at first, prolly because we attended previous Cirque shows on other ships in the past and thought it would be similar. But this show is DIFFERENT and fabulous and we really enjoyed it. If we are to return to Getaway we'd book it again! Kudos to NCL!

It is definitely worth it. And you can use your SDP with an upcharge. Seating is first come first serve. Most of your group should get in line at least 1 hour before show time. Your entire group must be in line 30 minutes before show time when the doors open. The hostess will seat you. Havens guests are seated through a crew elevator before the doors open for general seating, so even if you are first in line, you won't get the "best" seats.
