As far as bringing wine onto the ship... On 3 different occasions in Argentina and Uruguay I brought wine aboard. I had it out, ready to hand the bottle over or pay the fee. All 3 times I was waved along. They didn't care.

 

So... There is policy. And then there is what actually happens at ports. Just have the bottle out, and be ready to pay the corkage fee.

 

As far as church dress codes; yes, covering shoulders and knees is mandatory in most cases. I normally wear capris or a longer skirt, and carry a big scarf to cover my shoulders. Once, in Mexico, I had to cover my head as well because it was a festival day. The scarf came in handy for that as well.
