Kids’ room

In December we booked the teens into their own separate room (even though they are well-behaved kids:halo:). The cruise line wouldn’t let us, so we booked one parent in their room and booked a child to the parent room and swapped keys after registration). So every time I need to get something from my room, I have to track a kid down in the kids club and swap keys for a few minutes. Booking for this year and hope to avoid that hassle.

Any other options?

Do the same thing but after you board go to Guest Services and ask for an extra key to the "kids" room.

Often guest services will let you "correct" the room assignments, so the kids are in one cabin and you and spouse in the other

Yes once on board the ship you can make the changes including the room cards.

Once you're "checked in" no one cares who sleeps where. Get the correct keys for each cabin. It's not a big deal and it's done ALL the time.

Get extra cards at Guest Services THEN mark so you won't get confused. You will have to walk around with more than one card but will be easier than tracking down the kids.

I’m pretty sure if you book adjoining cabins you can book kids in their own room and adults in their own. If they are separated you cannot

One line that apparently doesn't issue extra keys is MSC. There are a couple of reports on the MSC boards from those who anticipated doing that and it was a no-go. EM
