Hi all!

EngineCo52 - thanks so much for remembering! The pictures are lovely.

I find it hard to post pictures on CC as I always get a message about resizing, something I don't know how to do.

yeah most of them especially the good ones were large. I really want to get an underwater camera like the Sealife micro 2.0 with the lights on it

We'll be on the Glory in 2 1/2 months, only our second cruise. This will be our first time getting FTTF, though. About your early room access with FTTF, did you just choose not go through the fire doors to the hallways or was your cabin really not ready? Also, FTTF should get priority luggage delivery too. Did yours not show up until 5pm?

You didn't happen to buy the Social internet plan, did you? Carnival's wording has changed on their FAQ's since the last time we cruised. Two years ago, we were able to use iMessages on iPhone with the Social plan, no issues. Now they've reworded their policy to state that iMessage doesn't work on the Social plan. But facebook messenger, snapchat, and whatsapp all DO work on Social. iMessage is just another messaging app, much like those other three, so I don't understand why it wouldn't work. Was wondering if you, or anyone who's sailed recently, can definitively tell me if iMessage works on the Social plan.

I went through the fire doors, and our room was ready. They're supposed to be ready by 1:30 i believe. Our bags didn't get there until later probably around 530-6 its all depends really. I believe theyre supposed to be Priority, but who really knows.

imessage worked for some of the people in the group and others it didnt. mine worked until about the 4th day and then decided not to work anymore, so i wouldnt count on it. FB messenger works fine, snapchat is slow but does work. better in certain areas of the boat then other. Snapchat videos took forever to send and load. but again i wouldnt count on imessage working. i use Whatsapp at home for many group chats so im very familiar with it, and i LOVE whats app. i would suggest downloading that prior to the cruise.

For people with FTTF, cabins are supposed to be ready as soon as they board. FTTF is also supposed to get priority luggage delivery, so if you had it and didn't get yours until 5:30-6, they dropped the ball on that one.

We'd like to avoid using any new apps that we don't typically use, if possible. We use our phones to communicate with each other on board. We're probably going to try the chat feature on the Carnival Hub app, but I've read that experiences vary. My wife and I do have facebook accounts. We don't use the fb messenger app, but could download it if it came to that. But our son doesn't have a fb account and we'd prefer not to create one. We're also taking one of his friends and we definitely want him to be able to keep in touch with his parents. Since they all have iPhones, the easiest method would ideally be iMessage. If none of them use whatsapp or fb messenger, it'd be a nuisance to have them use a new messaging app just for this. Crossing my fingers that iMessage works.

I recommend the HUB app. the only thing that you have to remember with it, is you have to keep it open so you receive messages on it. Also my buddy brought one of those battery packs that you can plug your phone into and charge it, it was wonderful having that on the cruise. another thing i suggest is getting a Power strip. i got one for this cruise since there is only charging port in the cabin. they one i got and i loved it was off of amazon called the JSVER Compact cube power strip, has 3 usb outlets and 3 regular outlets i think it was only $17, but if you have multiple electronics to charge ie phones camera gopros etc

As you should have. Diamond/Platinum/FTTF can go through the doors. They keep them shut to keep everyone else out. Did you get the card at check in that tells you when the cabins are ready?

Didn't know that, thanks, we went through the doors, we are priority/casino/platinum, and got a rude comment from a woman sitting on the stairs waiting for 1:30 about people ignoring the rules, of course I just had to answer back, I didn't know she was Carnival's door monitor!;p

Yeah, I've heard you can't close the Hub app. Most have said you have to at least leave it running in the background, is that what you're talking about? I watched a video about it and noticed it does display a number on the little chat bubble within the app when a new message comes in, but does it allow for the phone to give an audio notification too? Hub wasn't available when we cruised two years ago, so we're eager to try all of its features, even if chat doesn't work so well.

We like taking longer extension cords (6-8 ft.) instead of power strips. I take a small, portable fan with me for white noise and air, so it's nice to have a long extension cord to be able to put it by the bed. And my wife can stretch it into the bathroom for her curling iron. Last time there wasn't an outlet in there. We also take a plain 3-way outlet adapter. FYI, the cube power strip you pointed out isn't allowed because it's surge protected. Nothing that's surge protected is allowed due to it being a hazard to the ship's electrical systems.

I would gladly walk up to that person and show them the FTTF sticker on my S&S card, and tell them to enjoy their wait. Then when I come back from my cabin, without my luggage, and they're still waiting, I'll just give 'em a wink. ;)
