RoseCruisePlaya Posted March 7, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 7, 2018 Hello! In a couple of weeks my husband and I will be cruising to Nassau....I've read about Junkanoo beach being at walking distance from the pier....has anyone walked towards this beach in the past? I will appreciate any info or advice......thanks!
jerrya72 Posted March 7, 2018 #2 Share Posted March 7, 2018 We walked there from the ship. It's not far all. If you Google Nassau walking tour you'll find a few maps.
lmf24lmf Posted March 7, 2018 #3 Share Posted March 7, 2018 Its an easy walk.... many of your fellow cruisers will be heading the same way.
Nic6318 Posted March 7, 2018 #4 Share Posted March 7, 2018 Hi There are other less crowded/busy/loud beaches (such as Saunders beach) a little further in the same direction. It would be too far to walk, but public busses go past every 15 min. or so. Have you looked at the information available on the port of call threads on this site? You can also find more information on TripAdvisor. hope this helps have a great cruise
Buffalofirsttimer4 Posted March 7, 2018 #5 Share Posted March 7, 2018 Hello! In a couple of weeks my husband and I will be cruising to Nassau....I've read about Junkanoo beach being at walking distance from the pier....has anyone walked towards this beach in the past? I will appreciate any info or advice......thanks! very walkable 10-20 minutes to walk it depending on your speed. Its located right past the British Colonial Hotel (you pay for a pass to use that part of the beach). Vendors available to purchase drinks & food. Rent a lounger or drop your towel on the sand and have a seat. You can see the ships in port from here.
April42749 Posted March 7, 2018 #6 Share Posted March 7, 2018 We go there every time we're in Nassau and we like it. As the others have said.....easy walk. And you can visit the Straw Market and jewelry stores along the way.
RoseCruisePlaya Posted March 7, 2018 Author #7 Share Posted March 7, 2018 Thanks everyone for your great answers! ......I live in FL so traveling or paying to go to the beach it's not a priority....but of course I want to say I went to a beach at Bahamas! Haha.....i don't mind crowed beaches....my main concern is safety.....and apparently it sounds like a safe walk......thanks again!
caribsun Posted March 7, 2018 #8 Share Posted March 7, 2018 Junkanoo is located on the commercial shipping channel and not that great of a beach and not the clearest water. I would get a day pass for Melia Hotel located on the blue Atlantic.

Thecat3902 Posted March 13, 2018 #10 Share Posted March 13, 2018 My husband and I took our kids in September. We were not impressed with Junkanoo beach. To me it was dirty. I’d pay the cab fare and go to paradise beach. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
