Onboard the Victory, initial Impressions

Whoops apologies, clearly I wasn't remembering right about the no deck chairs on deck 3 ... could have sworn it was something about lifeboats. I know I spent a good deal of time out there on the Liberty and there were no chairs either.

Also about the Victory ... I truly thought it was part of the conquest class, but is actually the slight smaller triumph class... they look very similar though, so that's my excuse :)

Hey.... Favor... Turn your TV on in cabin real quick..... TBS or TNT... Are they showing March Madness basketball? Or is it Mexican TNT/TBS and no basketball? We're sailing in a couple weeks... Final 4 games! haha

Sorry! Got this in the morning when we got back to Miami- terrible internet yesterday at sea. They have TNT and I can tell you the sky bar was hopping yesterday and my thought was "must be the tournament ". That's all I can offer. Good luck!!

Third night we had a wonderful dinner, girls said the best yet! Service was friendly and fast and food was warm. Truly an enjoyable evening!20f6640ffbaa05ea406c8e3f9f836c8e.jpg

Biggest hit of the appetizers. Shrimp flatbread. We all loved it!

Meatballs. They tasted like someone's grandma was in the back making them. Nothing like frozen ones. Really good!

Greek salad, another hit

Tuna, one of the few things we really didn't like all cruise. It was room temperature. Needed to be cold.

One of the surprise hits was this mushroom dish, stuffed with spinach. We all loved it.

Comedy club- we went to one show. It was at 11:15, the 18 and over show. Many have said on this board that you need to get there early to get a seat and they were right. It was standing room only. The show wasnt long, but it was really good we all enjoyed it. they aren't kidding when they say 18 and over! They maybe should have made that 18 to 55…

A few random ship pics that I found on my walk on the seaday morning. More areas I'd not found before! Nicely tucked away up high on the ship. 7ea8d2ca415bdaf08b63ae8d7d77f4ca.jpg

Funny you point that out. On 10, there is a gorgeous outdoor area right by the water with wicker seating and it is dedicated to smoking. I found that a little shocking. Nothing like that for non-smokers. There are only a few wooden bench like seats in that outside area on 3. Totally under utilized. And you're welcome for the review!

I am a non-smoker now but basically, the whole ship is set up for non-smokers (other than the casino). It stands to reason that they would have a comfortable place for a smoker to sit down and enjoy their cigarette :-)

Seaday brunch was also great. I went solo as the girls slept off the night before. I went late and there was no wait. The place we only about 25% full. a3b4553b912e8c5bb539f789cb7cafb7.jpg

I started with a Cesar salad

And had a salmon dish with a capers sauce (unclear on the white puffs with banana chips? I took those off so cannot comment...) with polenta and a side of cheese grits. All my favorite foods!

Here's the pacific restaurant and the seas which were rolling a bit.

The gym seemed to attract some serious athletes and workout fanatics. Not a bunch of gym moms on this ship! Maybe a spring break thing? College students? I was surprised by the size of the gym too. Quite large! 9d4b5f8f40e3602dc82875ea6548c70c.jpg

The love and marriage show was a hoot! Philippe, our cruise director did a nice job. This was the first of this type of show I've seen, although assume most are similar. The newlyweds got nearly nothing right and the over 50 years of marriage couple were in lock step sync. Lots of funny answers along the way!8c964ee0b365912901ec0ccbce5a5b9d.jpg

He 80's rock show by Philippe and his staff was also fun but here's where I think NCL beats Carnival. This was held in the lobby bar in the evening. Folks had to stand on the lobby stairs to participate. NCL has their 80s dance party on the top deck outside with the huge video screen playing old favorites from MTV days. It draws a huge crowd and the guests dress in 80s garb too. Carnival only had one deck party on the evening and it was short. The rest of the time they played movies By the pool. That really only left their night club. No outside parties by the sea!

I have been researching this ship as it will be my first Carnival Cruise. My first cruise ever was 2 years ago on Norwegian Getaway, so, it will be tough to top that new ship, but, I'm keeping an open mind and am understanding this is an older ship for sure. In doing my research by watching YouTube vids, etc. I noticed that the updates after it's recent drydock at the pool deck were pretty significant. Added Blue Iguana, RedFrog, Guys Burgers, etc. I also see they modified the pool and they moved jacuzzis to be built into the sun deck. In my opinion, very cool. Wondering if you by chance have any photos of the Siren's Pool located at the back of the ship? Curious to see if that got any upgrades! Thanks, and this is an awesome post. Sailing the Key West / Cozumel itinerary on April 30th. I'm getting pumped up!

Hi L1211 - great review!!! I will be sailing in May and just wondering if you noticed how late shops were open near the port being there from 12-10pm.

Thanks, excited for your upcoming sailing! Would love to go back!!! We shopped till about 7:30 and all was going strong. We asked how long they would be open and were told "you here, we're here". I'd guess 9:30 all aboard is closing time!!

We had several Away class sailing is the last couple years and LOVED them. I'd be lying if I didn't say I was worried about the older boat without the bells and whistles. But, we had a blast. We experienced more lines but you adapt and figure out your own patterns. No pay restaurants but the MDR was excellent. Fewer clubs but we found favorite and made friends. We loved the cabins and the stewards were outstanding. It was truly a great time. Here's the Siren's pool. Didn't take a pic of the bar but that was always hopping. It was next to pizza which was always busy. This was closed when cool and open when nice. Lovely area. a30c195b4a6bedc63fa74d06643de159.jpg

Only hit the coffee bar only once. It was, of course, included with Cheers so many had free access. Lines were terrible so I mostly passed. The one cup I had was quite good. I did not partake in the sweets from the case but they looked great and at a reasonable price, $2.25 I believe. Would have been a bargain if I had a sweet tooth. d09eacfeb6c2f94c89e66994ffbb13fa.jpg

Loving your posts and pictures. I was on the Victory for NYE, it was my first carnival cruise and will hold a sweet spot in my heart as it was my boyfriend’s first cruise and he fell in love, we will be on the Glory in June!

As for serenity, on our cruise it was never full, very relaxed vibe, college spring breakers seem to have taken it over on your sailing!
