Onboard the Victory, initial Impressions

So the ship has grown on me! Video and pictures don't quite do it justice. Maybe it's the Tiffany style, really, really green ceiling art that doesn't seem to connect with the rest of the decor? But the nautical theming and aqua colors are actually quite nice. Not as dated as I expected. Somehow it all seems to work for the Old Victory! She's lovely in her own way...037e99386af3c94bad2db0d488c6dac6.jpg

Wow! We were on the Victory in August and Key West was MISERABLE hot!!! Insanely hot! And I'm a southern girl used to heat and humidity. 55 is unbelievable! WOW! But we have snow and 29 here in NC so that's still a heat wave.

Enjoy!

We have an early day in Key West, 7:30 to 1. I expected the town to be hopping given the ship was in port but nothing much was open early. Looks like 9:30 to 10 is opening time. Made for lovely sight seeing and power walking but not shopping and drinking! de97ed9f4dfec8b182b95f33d11c02dd.jpg68a661b363a4ca8af831d5287163c4fb.jpg477b47092a8f4c3e8c7495b75ec47657.jpgd3cdb7d6b9412c31613d7118aa5eb718.jpg09516f5638ef6888ebb7d9941bb3bf86.jpg917ea492b302ecb8c41360d53eb6bbfb.jpg

Back to last night... dinner in the MDR was great! While the food was only lukewarm, service was outstanding and flavors delicious.

Salmon was the surprise hit! I order it medium and it was explained that it is cooked as it is cooked. I changed my order and the sweet waiter said he'd being one for us to try. I loved it! Shockingly moist and delicious.

And dessert... 05781ded210679eb1cd585b1650a3b14.jpg

Happy happy girl with her chocolate melting cake. True story, her parents came on a carnival cruise for their honeymoon. Her dad's best memory? Chocolate melting cake!!

Lol at guy in the back

Ha! He was great. We enjoyed him at the bar. My oldest is 6'3" college volleyball player. She loves to wear heels. She's quite the spectacle and meets people easily. We know most the ship now!!!

I begged off about 1am and the girls headed to Arctic night club I think??? Sorry, the story of last night ends there. Likely best mom doesn't know...

Absolutely LOVE that she embraces her height! I’m 5”10, also played college volleyball, and LOVE to wear high heels!!! It is so much fun walking into a room and being the center of attention!

One last Key West pic. Cracks me up but that might just be me... do note the added prop for his selfie and the pic he is graciously taking of the girls. d35c988bbe15aff1677a54abc1225707.jpg

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it probably will not get any better. Last month we were in a cabin above where you are on the Lido deck and every night, and also some days we could hear whatever type of entertainment that was going on from deck 3 (lobby) from start to finish. One night a guy played the guitar and sang until midnight. It was not a good 4 days for us.:(:(

I've had to use the sound machine on my phone! You are right. I can hear the lobby bar entertainment along with all the elevator lobby conversations. Terrible location. Booked late. No wonder it was available!!!

Great relaxing afternoon at sea. With the Victory leaving key west so early it's a bit like a sea day! Played trivia in the lobby lounge, walked the ship and found some new areas. Here are some more random ship pics.

The stairs and cabin areas are clean and look fresh.

Alchemy Bar is great! Here's a bummer, you cannot purchase the mini martini tasting if you have Cheers. 964eb6ff4918a411243a335005c482d0.jpg

Pictured is The Perfect Storm. Way too sweet but included flamed rosemary. A treat to watch him make it!!

Formal night seemed like a bit of a bust. Here's the dinner menu. Really nothing more special than the night before? Food was great - warmer than the night prior. Service was efficient but totally lacking personality. Funny how that effects the overall experience. d7d6bca9abc9963dd1c03f05e8dea325.jpg

The wait staff dance was a total surprise for my daughter who has only sailed NCL. Her face says it all!

We had a blast! But I think once per cruise would be plenty.

Me and my lovely. Here's to the good stuff. The reason I cruise! Time with young adult children is priceless!!
