lorri111 Posted March 14, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 14, 2018 We are jumping through all sorts of hoops with Japan authorities to bring codeine into Japan next month for our Princess cruise, and now they are asking about our cruise port visit to Busan, South Korea. Are there any particular restrictions re codeine as with Japan who regard it as restricted narcotic? Apart from normal carrying of prescriptions I mean. And is it likely to slow down immigration processes on getting on and off ship.
Philob Posted March 14, 2018 #2 Share Posted March 14, 2018 Google "Japan Codeine" and you get this: http://www.au.emb-japan.go.jp/itpr_en/visa_medicine_en.html Short answer, no you can't bring in codeine into Japan, at least not without paperwork prior to entry. According to other articles, codeine, can be converted to morphine by any competent chemist or a streetside one, hence Japan's restrictions. Delay in immigration process? Yeah, you can be arrested. lorri111 Posted March 14, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted March 14, 2018 Hi, perhaps I wasn't clear in my query. I know about Japan's rules and we are following them in getting the paperwork sent to us. What I wanted to know about was South Korea, whether they had similar restrictions.

Gwendy Posted March 15, 2018 #6 Share Posted March 15, 2018 If you are not taking medications off the ship in the ports there should be no problems. Sent from my iPad using Forums
