On board shops.

Hello all.

 

I cannot remember how the shops work on board. If you buy anything doe's the charge go on the room or do you pay direct.

 

I will probably buy some duty free cigarettes and maybe a watch.

 

Any advice would be welcome.

All purchases on board go against your room account.

I really haven’t found good deals on watches on cruise ships. I found the same ones at Costco for less money.

I got a good deal on a watch on Discovery 2 but in general found the shops very poor. There seemed better choice and value on Dream, Spirit and Majesty.

The duty free shop is not open on all cruises, as some of our fellow passengers discovered to their dismay a couple or so years ago - I suspect it was "Mediterranean Medley" - the ports of call were all in the EU.

 

Fortunately I had clocked this before we joined the ship and organised a quick visit to the Carrefour supermarket in Palma.

 

These exceptions are few and far between - but worth being aware of.
