Noordham cabin 6089

We haven't stayed in that particular cabin, but have been in a cabin in a similar location on another Vista ship and not heard significant noise from the elevators or the area. Occasional voices, much like someone talking as they walked by the door of any cabin.

Thank you.

We have requested open seating and now are wondering if we should change to late seating. This is a 50th anniversary celebration and wonder if we mention it, would they be likely to give us a table for 2 in a good location, or are we more likely to get a table for 2 in open seating? This is our first Holland America cruise (usually sail Celebrity), so feel like I am a newbie and have a lot of questions.:)

jshli, Happy Anniversary. On most HAL ships you can make a reservation, up to three days in advance, in the main dining room even with open dining. Just ask the manager at the door for what you want and why. They will usually make sure everything is good for your special evening or make a reservation for the (extra cost) specialty restaurant. Enjoy your cruise.

Print out THIS PDF and make a list of the tables for two that you would like on the lower level. As soon as you board call ext 88 or go to a podium near the Canaletto (deck 9, center) to reserve one of those tables, for up to three nights at a time. If you decide to change to fixed seating, that's on the upper level, but it will probably be harder to get a table for two there because many people want them. We like the open seating for the flexibility. If you don't like the table you get the first night, try a different one the next night, again by reserving it.

Or, you can just show up as you wish, ask for any table for two, and wait. If you go that route, your wait will be shorter if you arrive before 5:45 or after 7:15. Sometimes they will seat you at a 4-top and pick up two place settings. Those are often in better locations than the 2-tops.

Good luck and have a great cruise!

Currently on the Noordam room 7069 two rooms down from elevators and stairs, only noise we hear is the occasional ring of the elevator bell as it arrives on the 7th deck. Not loud enough to bother us

Wow that's a great tip! Thank you for sharing. If I'm reading the chart correctly, does that make tables 121, 123, and 125 window tables for 4 on the lower level, for example? And 18, 20, and 22 window tables for 4 on the upper level?

Where you see an X between numbers (such as 21X23) it means that those are ordinarily two tables of four that can be turned into a table for 10. So 5,9,17,21, etc are all window 4-tops, but they are just about 2 feet away from another table.

Thanks! I've saved that file in my Alaska planning folder. Happy travels to you!
