This is the last port that the Titanic set sail from to cross the ocean.

A lot of Irish left from here for the New World.

I don't remember hitting this type of fog last time Carole, but I don't think we used the English Channel last time we did Zeebrugges.

I'm happy to hear the horn ;).

We were coming from Portland England to Zeebrugges - so definitely in the English Channel - our final destination was IJmuiden, Netherlands, so we were all over the English Channel,

What is this ugly building you ask?

It's part of the original White Star Line terminal. It's been turned into a Titanic memorabilia. And yes, Kazu did it.

This is the deck (now a bar area) where the 3rd class passengers had to wait to tender.

1st and 2nd class waited in the building.

The wooden thing at the end is the original pier where they tendered from.

Titanic trivia galore. Rev Browne was on the ship and so liked that passengers offered to pay his fare to America. His uncle here was the bishop and said "no, we have business to do". Saved his life.

This man took many pics aboard and they were lost for 25 years and re-discovered. James Cameron used them for his movie and scenes you see are very realistic thanks to those pics.

Did you know that Captain Smith cancelled his life boat drill (no one knows why). If he had not, the life boats might have sailed full and so many lives might not have been lost.

A 3rd class passenger's room onboard. It was luxurious by the day's standards as they had running water, electricity and were fed. (Back in the day, 3rd class passengers had to bring their own food on board).

These are 2 menus from the Titanic. I'll let you guess which one is the 3rd class all day menu and which is the 1st class one.

The entrance to the White Star Line/Titanic Experience.

One last piece of Titanic Trivia. The passengers had to tender out. Not because the Titanic couldn't dock but because Captain Smith wanted to set a record speed crossing the Atlantic. It took less time to tender the passengers than to come in and dock.

Oops, wrong pic. Not sure what happened but this is a demonstration of how large the ship's propellers were.

This is the entrance to the White Star/Titanic Experience.

kazu thought it was worthwhile and found her family's crest in the museum shop. Only place I saw it. Wish I had bought more for family.

A lion on each side of the entrance. Pretty hard to miss ;)

DH needed a hair cut. He likes to try local barbers.

Chatting to a local, it seems he chose a very good one. By the way it was a she ;)

Why did I take a pic of this plaque? Because - remember the story on Rev. Browne whose photographs and live would have been lost if his uncle the Bishop hadn't told him to stay in Cobh? A relation for sure (I asked).
