catwoman1 Posted April 30, 2018 #1 Share Posted April 30, 2018 We are a family of 6 adults. We are stopping in San Juan on a cruise and will be in port from 7am-2:30pm. Could someone recommend a nearby beach that we could taxi to? Looking for facilities, food/drink, chairs and umbrellas. Not interested in VIVO beach club which is like $95pp to go. Thanks! Tatka Posted April 30, 2018 #2 Share Posted April 30, 2018 We liked town beach Escambron. It is pretty simplistic, but nice. Offers some snorkel. We walked there .. nice but a bit long walk. You probably can take a taxi.
carolitis Posted May 1, 2018 #3 Share Posted May 1, 2018 How rough was the water at this beach especially for children? When I asked about this beach elsewhere people kept pushing me to Isla Verde instead but cannot find why. But saw many reviwes about Isla Verde stating the water can be too rough for kids. We just need a beach close to port. Escambron is a closer. If anyone knows how rough the water is, Cost of cab or Uber there, and if have chairs /umbrellas there or not and cost of those if do I would appreciate this info also. SlackerMom423 Posted May 1, 2018 #4 Share Posted May 1, 2018 Following. I am traveling in June with two tweens and without my husband who is home working. Really want a beach day that isn't $90 a person or too much of a "pick up" joint for my kids.
Tatka Posted May 1, 2018 #5 Share Posted May 1, 2018 Escabrón is behind the reef or some kind of rocks so it’s calm. Sadly I don’t remember renting chairs there (we where there 1 year ago).
catwoman1 Posted May 6, 2018 Author #6 Share Posted May 6, 2018 Maybe we could taxi to the Marriott Stellars? Anyone know if we can go there? Wasnt sure if the beach is public or not.
Tatka Posted May 6, 2018 #7 Share Posted May 6, 2018 Maybe we could taxi to the Marriott Stellars? Anyone know if we can go there? Wasnt sure if the beach is public or not. We stayed at Marriott Stellaris & Casino in 2009. It had a nice beach although not typical Caribbean... more waves. I didn’t read the rules, but in my estimate people there were from the hotel. The beaches in Puerto Rico are public, but typically you're not allowed to access the beach through private property such as a hotel. You have to find a public access point. You can buy a day pass for the hotel you're asking about through Resort for a Day.
