watson50 Posted May 24, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 24, 2018 Hello everybody. Will be cruising to St. Maarten very soon and was curious as to the sand replenishment at Maho Beach. We have been there 2 times before and the beach at the Sunset bar was good. How is it now. I know it was wiped out. Thank you, Watson50, Keith.:cool:
It'sRC4ME Posted May 24, 2018 #2 Share Posted May 24, 2018 The beach sand did come back in force after the hurricane (a lot of it wound up on the runway and in the road initially). Since it varies week to week it's somewhat unpredictable. traveltalkonline.com has a St. Maarten message board - you could poke around there to see if anyone mentions the sand level at Maho, or register and post a question. Posters there have a somewhat anti-cruise-passenger bias, but they are very knowledgeable about the island and someone can probably give you an up to date eye-witness report. Rare L454S Posted May 24, 2018 #3 Share Posted May 24, 2018 It is very much looking like before the storm last year. We were there last year just before the storm,we just got back last month from another visit. The beach and port area are back looking pretty good. The problem you will see is everything else on the drive from the port to Maho beach. Was still very bad including the airport, and surrounding marinas. Casino's and large hotels are still under reno.
