Airport timing with self disembarkation

For those who have used self disembarkation in New York (assuming a cab ride to LGA on a Sunday), what is the time frame you are comfortable with in selecting your flight home?

Domestic or International flights? There will likely be different airport check-in times...

What time should one arrange for car service when disembarking in New York? We live in town, so no flight to catch, but would like an idea of what time to book. Thank you all!

I'd go for 10:00, depending on where on the ship your cabin is located. Baggage and customs can be a bit of a zoo.

So it turned out to be a non-question. Our small local airport strangely had airfare yesterday to New York for less than Denver International, which has happened only never before. It is so small an airport there is literally only one flight per day to Denver and back so we had no choices in the end.

Our flight back home departs LGA at 2:30p, plenty of time even without self disembarkation. Because of the one-flight-a-day thing on the front end of the cruise, we don't arrive in NY until 1:49p. Only 19 mins beyond arrival guidelines but enough to scare us into arriving the day before departure. So we now have a day to experience NY, 2 weeks aboard the QM2 AND free airport parking.

How could this get any better!

Cheers!

we just left the ship last week. disembarkation is super fast and the best we've EVER encountered on a cruise ship.

off in 5 minutes. You don't need to wait for your deck to be called either. they want everyone off the ship asap too.

Glad to hear it. In 2016, they were really short of CPB agents in the terminal and the wait was over an hour in line. (Last year, we had priority disembarkation, so we were right at the start and only waited about 15 minutes)

I think it's still a crapshoot.

(Customs uncertainty, LGA construction, and the omnipresent risk of traffic congestion bedevils any attempt at a reliably close estimate of airport arrival time. ...and that doesn't include the traffic effect of the upcoming L line subway closure next year)

Based on oatbagg1's posting history, I believe they were on an eastbound crossing to Southampton. As we know, the UK immigration procedures done on board during an eastbound crossing make it a breeze to disembark in Southampton. The procedures upon arrival in New York after a westbound crossing are a different matter.

THAT explains it. (I was feeling hopeful for our TA in September)
