charliem Posted June 5, 2018 #1 Share Posted June 5, 2018 We will be taking an Alaska B2B cruise (Celebrity) out of Vancouver in July. Will be flying into Seattle, spend the night, then take the am track train from Seattle to Vancouver for the start of the cruise. The train schedule does not work for us for our return from Vancouver to Seattle. What are our other options? Our Seattle hotel is near the Seattle airport. We will probably have at least 3 pieces of luggage to check plus 2 (total) carryon's. Thanks Charlie
Rare Roz Posted June 5, 2018 #2 Share Posted June 5, 2018 I've had good luck with Quick Shuttle. They pick up and drop off at Seatac and Canada Place. Roz
Rare Gardyloo Posted June 5, 2018 #3 Share Posted June 5, 2018 1. Quick Shuttle - http://www.quickcoach.com/ Picks up at the Vancouver cruise terminal and drops you at Seatac airport, where you can take a (usually free) shuttle bus to your hotel. 2. Amtrak bus - http://amtrakcascades.com/ Runs from the Vancouver train station to the Seattle train station. You'd need to get from Canada Place to the station, then from King Street station to the airport; the combined cost would probably negate any savings in bus fare. 3. One way rental car. It can be a fairly quick drive or a longer one if you take a more scenic route. Often the price for a 24h rental will be competitive with two bus/train tickets, so worth investigating. All the major rental agencies allow this.
fastpitchdad Posted June 5, 2018 #4 Share Posted June 5, 2018 If you have National free rental days (or know someone who does) they do not charge anything for a one way drop off. I have actually done it from Vancouver to SEA.
Rare martincath Posted June 5, 2018 #5 Share Posted June 5, 2018 The extra luggage means Bolt unfortunately doesn't work - but Greyhound would (they allow one 'checked' under the bus apiece but an extra for IIRC only $15). Rental car will almost certainly be your best bet though - just keep shopping around, the closer your date approaches the more accurately the rental fleet locations are known. With 2 people, even a subcompact will work (stick some bags in the back seat) so you can be very flexible, which should mean easily finding a total rental cost under $100 with all taxes & fees. If you are REALLY willing to chance it, try checking just a week or so before on the free rental car moving websites, e.g. Transfer Car, if you get lucky they will even pay for a tank of gas and charge you literally nothing! Of course, the BEST idea is to stay in Vancouver longer, then you can take the morning train a different day. Or the evening train day of disembarkation - whatever your plans are in Seattle, since you do have another hotel night I can personally guarantee there's more fun to be had spending the day sightseeing up here than down there;-)
