psparks17 Posted June 6, 2018 #1 Share Posted June 6, 2018 We will be arriving in Hamilton on the Veendam next week. On Tuesday I was thinking of taking the ferry to the Dockyard to go to snorkel park and other attractions there. Is this a worthwhile excursion? We docked in the area on my previous cruise to Bermuda on RCL several years back. I am sure its much more interesting now than it was then. For those more familiar with the area , what should we do while there? TIA
maggie1968 Posted June 6, 2018 #2 Share Posted June 6, 2018 Snorkel park is a man made beach...Bermuda has SO many other beautiful choices. My answer would be no, not worth it.
Bitterman Posted June 6, 2018 #3 Share Posted June 6, 2018 The Dock yard has some nice shops and bars, and of course the National Museum of Bermuda, but for beaches I agree, don't bother with snorkel park. Much better "real" beaches around. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
psparks17 Posted June 6, 2018 Author #4 Share Posted June 6, 2018 Thanks. Maybe we will just go to Horseshoe Bay instead.
JAMESCC Posted June 6, 2018 #5 Share Posted June 6, 2018 Snorkel park in my opinion is good for families with little kids or babies because it's so close to where most cruise ships dock. I guess Holland America doesn't but we said RCCL nearly 100% and snorkel park was perfect when our son was 2 years old. He indeed had an accident in his bathing suit and we just had to walk a short distance back to the ship. We enjoyed it but it's not nearly the best Bermuda has to offer. maggie1968 Posted June 6, 2018 #6 Share Posted June 6, 2018 Horseshoe Bay is lovely....there is a trail you can walk..I would recommend getting dropped off at Warwick (limited facilities) then walking the trail to Horseshoe Bay
Sunseeker810 Posted June 6, 2018 #7 Share Posted June 6, 2018 I went there while on my cruise last week. It was $10.00 to get in and $30.00 for 2 chairs and an umbrella. So not worth it. The beach is about 3 feet deep. Sand covered coral that you have to be careful of stepping on.
ekmmom Posted June 15, 2018 #8 Share Posted June 15, 2018 There is no contest between Horseshoe Bay and Snorkel Park, Horseshoe is a true beautiful Bermuda beach, Snorkel wasn't very nice when we went last year :(
