Impressions of the island Princess ship? Thinking of booking a Panama Canal Cruise on it? Any feedback will be greatly appreciated

We took a Panama Canal cruise on her and she is the only ship we will never cruise on again. They added cabins to her and it has caused a huge overcrowding problem for public areas like the buffet and Princess theater. We love the Coral, but they did not butcher her up and add all the cabins. Sorry to be Debbie Downer, but you asked for honest opinions.

Yes thank you. Honesty is just what I’m looking for. This cruise had a sail date

on my birthday. That’s primarily why I

was considering it.

We did Panama Canal from FLL to LA on Island Princess. We loved it! We had never sailed on Island Princess before so didn’t know about the remodel. We did miss the IC.

Find another Princess ship doing the canal. Also find one that is called “ocean to ocean”. You do a complete transit and you get to stop in Puerto Amador. Cool port!!

It's the only Princess ship we will not sail again - unless she's the only cruise ship, from any line, doing a particular itinerary.

 

We've sailed her before the renos and after, and with the renovations that were done to her - we won't be back onboard. Removing the excellent Universe Lounge, cutting out 1/3 of the casino, and adding 150-200 extra cabins - while also butchering the aft end with the wonderful open decks - it's ridiculous. She's crowded, not enough public soace especially with the additional people guest capacity, limited dining options, limited lounge options, etc .

 

Vastly prefer Coral, as she wasn't butchered, and they added an International Cafe (albeit small).

 

For us, any other ship in the fleet besides Island...
