Can you purchase drinks on this program while still in port on embarkation day or do you have to wait until you start sailing?

We were able to start right at port last time we sailed the Dream.

You can start drinking right away, but you have to pay tax on the drinks while still in a US port.

We used it the second we got on board up until we walked off the last day. We were charged tax the first day until we exited the river channel and were also charged tax the morning of debarkarion

Thr triumph out of NOLA has gone to the "mailbox" systwm where you will not get your S&S card until your room is ready. Give your boarding pass to the closest bar tender and ask them to write your folio # on it and then start drinking away.

Just FYI you’ll pay taxes on all drinks all the way down the Mississippi River which is about 8 hours or so.
