taxi to Jacks?

Are taxis readily available to get to Jacks? How far is Governors Beach from there?

In a taxi to Jack's you would literally walk 3/4 of the distance in number of steps from the pier to the taxi stand. Then the taxi would drive out the port gate and almost immediately turn left into the drive area for Jacks. You will pay $4.50 per person each way for this "privilege".

 

Governors beach is maybe a 5-10 minute walk from Jacks as you need to go back out to the road and go toward town about a 1/4- 1/2 a mile. You can't go along the beach from Jacks to Governor's Beach. There's a lighter pier and storage facilities in the way. As taxi's are zoned in GT. it would probably cost you another $4.50 per person to go from Jacks to Governor's Beach.

 

So if Governor's Beach is your primary destination, best to take ataxi directly there. Be aware, however, Governor's Beach has no facilities and you will need to hopefully arrange fro a taxi to return, if you didn't want to walk back to the cruise port.

Have you considered renting a golf cart?

Might be worth trying. Officially they have to stay outside the port area so it is a decent walk to get to them, but the guards gave me no trouble taking it in and dropping off the wife and our bags then taking it back out to drop it off. The same MIGHT hold true for a pickup. No guarantees.

Again, the issue with golf carts is getting there. You can walk to Jacks along the beach in the same time it'll take you to walk to the golf carts. And if you're only going to Jack's or Governor's Beach, the golf cart rental is pretty steep.
