Room service coffee

Would you say the room service coffee is better than the buffet? Better than the in-cabin maker? I just want a decent cup.

I think it depends on the coffee maker in the cabin. I’ve had those “Nespresso” (sp?) in some of my cabins which make good coffee. The stuff I’ve had from room service tasted like the buffet coffee, which is mediocre, at best.

 

I’m not an instant coffee person, but find those Starbucks packets a much better substitute over the buffet coffee.

our last few sails they have called ahead before arriving.

i agree the card is easier....but yeah, it does mean you have to get up when you might not be ready to.

 

I seem to remember getting a call when they were on their way on cruises prior to our last one. I assumed they discontinued the practice. It sure is helpful getting advance warning.

you can order each morning but I would simply hang the little card on the door before going to bed. That way the coffee will be there when you want it.

 

 

The problem with that is that on sea days the time I want coffee is whenever I happen to wake up spontaneously. I don’t want to have to set an alarm clock on sea days. So I think what the OP is asking is how long is the wait if you order as soon as you wake up. I would have to answer that it varies greatly! I’ve had coffee arrive in only 20 minutes after calling in the order but I have also had the coffee never arrive! The coffee supplied in the cabins with the Little single serve coffee maker is horrible so if you intend to use it bring some Folgers instant coffee and use that instead of the coffee that is supplied!

We arrange with the cabin steward to have plenty of coffee packets available in our cabin. We get bottled water (after reading the water thread I'll start using tap water) from the casino or bar I'm last visiting. We bring our own cremora. Plenty of coffee at our disposal. Just have to make it more often as those packets are only good for about 8 ounces or less.

Let me start by saying that I have never utilized room service much... I've always been the type to go find what I want.  That being said, I'm not completely familiar with room service etiquette.  What would they do if you don't answer your door when your coffee arrives?  Leave it outside the door?  Open up and leave it inside?  Bring it back?  I know it's poor etiquette... just wondering what they'd do.  I'd hate to have coffee ordered for 7:30 and we're both still sleeping or we're both up and out by then.
