If port currency exhange closes at 8 pm, what happens if still have CUC to change?

So what happens if we still have CUC to exchange if we come back late (after midnight) and the port exchange is closed and our ship leaves at 6:00 am?

Give it to your cabin steward as an additional tip; they can exchange it the next time the ship is in port in Cuba. I don't believe you can exchange it for dollars anywhere else.

btw folks, according to the Cuban government, the CUC is supposed to be 'going away' in favor of the CUP.....any day now apparently. People were saying it would happen as soon as Raul was out and the new guy, Diaz-Canel, was in, which happened already.

We inadvertently brought back 100 CUCs. I sold them on Craig’s List. I was able to save the 3% exchange fee and the buyer saved both the exchange fee and the 10% surcharge on USD.

We had 68 CUC left over from June. returning to Cuba in November.
