swmrgrl Posted January 7, 2006 #1 Share Posted January 7, 2006 Is there self-serve laundry on the Rotterdam?
Cruising Illini Posted January 7, 2006 #2 Share Posted January 7, 2006 Yes -- just look at ship diagram and you will see. There are two or three.
Balliett Posted January 7, 2006 #3 Share Posted January 7, 2006 We tried the one on the Dolphin deck in October, but it was so crowded we used the steward for the "$20 a bag" deal. Comes back clean and folded, in a wicker basket.
Himself Posted January 7, 2006 #4 Share Posted January 7, 2006 It is the VISTA class ships that do not have self serve laudries: the Zuiderdam, Oosterdam, Westerdam and Noordam. The other ships have them.
elmorejj Posted January 7, 2006 #5 Share Posted January 7, 2006 Balliett, did it cost $20 per bag for the laundry on the Rotterdam? On all other ships in the HAL family it is $12 per bag.......jean:cool:
swmrgrl Posted January 7, 2006 Author #6 Share Posted January 7, 2006 Thank you. I didn't see the laundry facilities at first. Are these free and what type of soap is available? Are there hours for doing laundry as well?
RuthC Posted January 8, 2006 #7 Share Posted January 8, 2006 Are these free and what type of soap is available? Are there hours for doing laundry as well? IIRC the charge is $1.00 to wash and $2.00 to dry; you can get quarters at the Front Desk. Soap is provided via a button on the machine (don't add too much!). The laundry is open 24 hours a day; I'd be careful about making too much noise there at 2:00 AM however. It's always crowded on the first sea day after several port days. A good time to use it is when everyone is getting ready for second sitting dinner/cocktail hour. Half the ship is at dinner and the other half getting ready! No one's in the laundry. spunkymoldy Posted January 8, 2006 #8 Share Posted January 8, 2006 Do you remember how many machines they have in the laundry room?
RuthC Posted January 8, 2006 #9 Share Posted January 8, 2006 Do you remember how many machines they have in the laundry room? Can't say that I do. Maybe four of each on the Lower Prom deck? btw---you don't have to use the machines on your deck. Sometimes it's closer to your cabin to go up or down a deck to do your laundry.
