It doesn't matter. You should be wondering all over...looking from different places. You will miss great views if you sit on your balcony the whole time.

CruiserBruce is correct. From one who has been on five P.C. cruises the best views of the canal locks are from the upper open decks where you can get 360 degree views. When going through the locks it is also nice to spend some time all the way forward.
