We have a cruise planned on each of these ships. A family member

who plays a lot of Texas Hold Em would like to go on one of these

with us. For those of you who use the casino which would be a better

cruise for them? Thanks.

Don't know which one is better-breakaway is bigger...

I just called NCL Casinos at Sea and was told they run poker games on their ships and the bigger the ship the more tables. The rake is 10% per hand up to a max of $25 for cash games which is high and they also have small buy in tournaments. I'm glad this thread was started as I may play in a couple of tournaments.

Without question, the Breakaway is the choice. The smaller ships (which the Jade is one) often don't get enough players the entire cruise to hold a cash game. They may or may not get enough players to run the tournaments, it varies each week. On the Breakaway with 4,000+ passengers, there will be cash games every day, typically starting between 8-10pm depending on when a least 4-5 players show up.

The tournaments at the CAS are more BINGO than poker. You get a relatively small starting stack, and the blind structure is high and fast. Then again you do get a lot of donkeys who have seen poker on TV and think they know how to play.

In a recent tournament I had four of the "I have an ace so I am betting big" donkeys at my table. Several hands into the tournament I flopped a straight flush and three of the four called my all in with Ace high. I do love taking money from donkeys!
