BillB48 Posted August 10, 2018 #1 Share Posted August 10, 2018 While the new bridge on the Atlantic side is not yet open for vehicle traffic, the structure has been completed across the Canal channel. To those who have transited the Canal previously, the new bridge will change the look of the Atlantic entrance considerably. The link covers the ceremony laying the last concrete section. BridgeMates Posted August 11, 2018 #4 Share Posted August 11, 2018 Good news! Thanks Bill. We hope it will be totally open when we dock in Colon on November 10th. Bruce & I plan to take two couples with us to see the new locks and drive on out to Ft. San Lorenzo. Don't want to chance the Ferry schedule getting back to the ship. BillB48 Posted August 12, 2018 Author #5 Share Posted August 12, 2018 I think Nov. 10 might be a wee bit too soon, seems to me I read where the opening will be sometime early next year. Perhaps between the ferry and when they allow you to drive across Gatun and Agua Clara it won't be mission impossible.
