Fort Lauderdale - hotel - port....Help please

The shuttle van that we took to the port fit 10 comfortably, and if they had put 2 more in, it may have been less comfortable but doable, and it's a short ride anyway!

Thank you for the info. Looks like we'll book with SI using the SmarterTravel.com discount link. The rate is $170.99 using AAA, but only $152.00 with SmarterTravel. Since we won't get in to FLL till 7:05pm, I see no reason in spending extra $$$ on a fancy hotel. Plus with the free airport/port transfers and the free continental breakfast, you can't go wrong.

We changed our reservation for our precruise stay to Sleep Inn because of all the positive comments here. We had been booked at the HI Exp. Air/Sea. bec. of tripadvisor rating (and despite location...yeh I know not desirable area). After reading all the info here, changed to SI and we saved additional $$ by booking thru hotels.com. Looks like it has everything we wanted for the one night...basically a simple clean place with accesibility to eating and transportation from airport and to ship. Thanks to everyone who had input. Hopefully I'll still be thanking you on our return.;)

Glad I came across this thread! Just booked SI for August - the Significant Org. Svgs. Rate is $87.99. Much better than other hotels I was looking at! Can't beat it with free transfers, walking distanced to dinner, picking up drinks and last minute necessities for the cruise!

One more thing down -- now just gotta wait to get some plane tickets ......

Just booked the SI for early September 1st $79.99 + tax. Thanks for all the info, it is just what we were looking for. Wife and I are taking the CB western caribbean on Sept 2. We got round trip air from Den to Fll for $160 pp from Delta!!! Can't beat that!!!

thanks

About the Springhill Suites in Dania, it looks like Marriott may have put the name back, but I still would be very wary of this place. Do some more homework, look on Trip Advisor for Stirling Suites at same address.

If you have a car, look at hotels in North Fort Lauderdale, like Sheraton Suites Cypress Creek, and there may be another Springhill in that area too.

Ok, I have read thru all 18 pages........and still not sure of my decision.........

We are cruising in Nov............want to stay one night pre(the 10th) and 2 nights post(the 17th and 18th)............

For now, we are booked at the Sheraton Yankee Clipper..Paying $169 a night(FL resident rate)..........Now we dont have a problem spending that but I'd like to know if its a good choice...........

Last time we were in FLL to stay,we were at the Radisson(now Bahia Mar,if I got that right)............Is the Sheraton to the left a bit(past the Bahia Cabana(or whatever that is now) as I face the hotel?? Trying to figure it all out............

I remember being able to walk to restaurants and shops from the Radisson.so I imagine the same with the Sheraton..........

We had also thought of the BW Oceanside.........but really not sold on it.............

Sorry to sound confusing, but I really am...........

Bottom line...........we would like a nice hotel on the beach or within walking distance...................also it would be nice not to have to take our car to go to any restaurants ..

HELP!! Please..:)

Hi Kathy, across the street from the Sheraton is a Water-Taxi stop:)

I was pleased with the Yankee Clipper.....clean, nice staff too!

You can pick up the Water Taxi and head over to Las Olas:D

No, the Hotel is not a 5 Star Luxury hotel, but I would stay

there again:)

Can someone please post the Smart Travel link again. I have already used it for booking the Sleep Inn in Dania (for Oct '06) but now I need it for other locations.

By the way...those of you who have booked the Sleep Inn-Dania, won't be sorry. It is a great hotel for a pre/post cruise stay. PERFECT location, comfortable, clean and cheap!

You've got to try the Italian restaurant across the street! Yum, Yum!!

Have fun on your cruise...it's goes so fast! :(

Thanks, I appreciate it! :)

I've tried to do a search on this and can't get any results to come up.

Wondering if anyone has stayed at this place recently and how it is???

We were able to get 3 rooms for 89.00 each in April. Seemed to be a good location - wondering if the place is clean etc.

THANKS

I believe I've heard it is okay. I almost booked it, but they don't have breakfast or a shuttle so I passed. Otherwise, I would have booked there.

The location is great, the hotel is very good. The ESA brand caters to the business traveler. It's popular among conventioneers being so close to the convention center. Great price...enjoy.

You had mentioned this location a long time ago and I wanted to make sure that it was still a good option.

I have booked it as a backup stay in case I'm unable to get the Renaiisance via Priceline as our date for departure get's closer.

THANKS

We have pre and post booked at the Extended Stay America in Feb. We sail on the Star on Feb. 24th. I read on these boards that it is a great location and the hotel has a good reviews. It is more for busimess people as Bequia stated. She has been so helpful. There is no shuttle nor breakfast. However, we are going to cab it over to the cruise terminal and the rooms/suite has a kitchen area. We will either go to the restaurant or buy something and eat in the suite. We usuallly look for location and cleanliness first. Shuttles and breakfast are extras.

I will post when we get back.

Peace, Anna:)

We booked this hotel for 2/27. Can't believe that the rates are $50 higher for this time of year.

For those that have stayed at this hotel, do you know how far the Hard Rock Casino is from there? How about the cost of a taxi?

Hi, tried to post this 2 days ago and didn't go through!

We stayed at the Sheraton Yankee Clipper Feb 06 and plan to stay there again post-cruise Mar 07. We have been very happy with it - agree not high end ~ but clean, friendly and on a wonderful stretch of beach. We are paying alot more than $169/night (high season in Feb, not FL residents and not Priceline savy, ie: stupid NY tourists) and we're still excited about going back. It is right next to the Bahia Cabana (yuck). But the Marriott is on the other side (WOW - try and stop in).

When we were there Feb 06 the BW Oceanside looked like a pit. Not sure what it's like now.

It's got a few restauraunts within walking distance but many folks on the board have informed us of the water taxi and sun trolley - both close.

Good luck and enjoy!
