Insurance claim - the jumper

An article in the paper today about 'the jumper' interviewed a family from the UK who say that they are now £5000 out of pocket having had to pay for an overnight stay in a hotel in Venice plus catching a plane. Members of the family will also lose work pay.

The interesting point is that the family have been told by their travel insurer that they will not be covered for the extra costs. Are you not covered for delays, missed flights, etc.?

It almost makes you wonder what the point of travel insurance is.

Such a shame, they will not be the only ones.

Unfortunately not all insurances are the same and some things do not get covered. In addition delay can be covered for some aspects but not for others. The only thing you can really do is read the PDS and make sure you are getting what you want to be covered for.
