Marygracie C. Posted August 22, 2018 #1 Share Posted August 22, 2018 Just wondering if my daughter and family had smooth sailing or rock and roll on their trip to Florida and Bahamas? On the Gem from New York.
CruiseyCruise Posted August 25, 2018 #2 Share Posted August 25, 2018 I just got off the boat. My wife was sick the first seaday. They waves were a decent size and they did move the boat a bit but it wasn’t too bad. She took something and felt much better the next day. Coming back there was the same thing. 8’ waves. You. An feel the boat rocking.

PelicanBill Posted August 25, 2018 #4 Share Posted August 25, 2018 The seas vary so much. I've made the passage from NY to the Caribbean 5 times and had 10 different rides!

Rare Ottawa_Cruiser Posted August 28, 2018 #6 Share Posted August 28, 2018 The seas will always vary, but I can tell you I was very sick sailing out of NYC on July 21. Other sailings out of NY I was ok.

Rare mking8288 Posted August 29, 2018 #8 Share Posted August 29, 2018 DW's insurance against rough seas ... we only sailed thru 2 major Nor-Easters in the last 5 years out of NY. We got tossed around on the smallish NCL Crown then in the 45,000 tonnage class a decade plus ago. Majority of our cruises, however, were smooth sailing - barely had more than 8' to 12' seas on the Gem this April/May ... Mother nature is unpredictable, just ask someone doing the POA this week, talks of another hurricane heading their way.
