fishman620 Posted August 25, 2018 #1 Share Posted August 25, 2018 We are considering one of these excursions for our May 2019 cruise port Dubrovnik, either the Cable Car and walking tour of Dubrovnik, or a Tuk Tuk Panoramic Ride and Old Town. Was wondering how crowded the cable car experience is (we are in port 7 am to 1 pm).....is the crowds anything like the long lines and waiting time like Santorini? Would love some insight on these excursions please.
Grandma Cruising Posted August 26, 2018 #2 Share Posted August 26, 2018 You really don’t need to do an excursion in Dubrovnik. You can walk round the old town, and walk the walls too on your own - same with the cable car. Depending on your ship you will either be docked at the port or anchored in the bay. If you have plenty of time you can do both. If you are docked at the port you can get a taxi to the bottom of the cable car, then take the ride up and back down. From the bottom of the cable car it’s a nice downhill walk to the Ploce gate or the Buza gate to go into the city. If your ship is anchored in the bay, the tender will take you to the marina right in the old city. Sent from my iPad using Forums

Rare dronnygirl Posted August 26, 2018 #4 Share Posted August 26, 2018 From the port you can get a taxi that will take you on an hour tour which includes driving up to the hilltop where the cable car goes, so if you don't like cable cars you can still see the beautiful views. The taxi will drop you at the city walls if you prefer so that you can look around the city
fishman620 Posted August 26, 2018 Author #5 Share Posted August 26, 2018 Thanks dronnygirl. I just looked up what time the cable car starts operation and it starts at 9 am. We are in port from 7 am till 1 pm. So maybe instead of waiting for the cable car to open, we should get a tuk tuk, what do you think?
Rare dronnygirl Posted August 27, 2018 #6 Share Posted August 27, 2018 Sorry don't know about tuktuk but there were taxis waiting at the port and were around 50 euros for an hour. Good value if there are 4 people.

Good value if there are 4 people. Will the taxi make stops for photo opportunities or did it drive straight to the top of the hill?
Rare dronnygirl Posted September 21, 2018 #8 Share Posted September 21, 2018 We didn't personally take the taxi tour. We went up the cable car but there was a long queue. Others told us of the taxi tour, there is a car park and cafe at the top of the cable car so i would guess the taxis will stop there for photos
