Florida 1 Posted October 1, 2018 #1 Share Posted October 1, 2018 Hi All! We will be an extended family of 11 from 7 yr old to 75 on our December cruise. It doesn't look like RCI has family cabanas for daily rental like NCL does on their private island. So what do you recommend for being a great spot? What tips do you have? RMH Posted October 2, 2018 #2 Share Posted October 2, 2018 Columbus Cove and Nellie's Beach will give you the most shade. Lounge chairs, even for a big group, should be easy to get together, but may not be right at the water's edge - depending on what time you get there. Nellie's Beach is closer to the pier, but smaller, so it feels more crowded. Columbus Cove is right next to one of the lunch areas so that is convenient. It is also next to the Artisan's Village which has a lot of aggressive locals selling things - but they are not allowed to come on the beach - you have to go to them. This is a plus for some, a minus for others. Unless you plan to rent several beach beds or Clamshells, I would not recommend Adrenaline Beach since there is not very much shade. But everything is close together so you can venture to all three beaches and maybe find the perfect spot for your family.
cb at sea Posted October 3, 2018 #3 Share Posted October 3, 2018 The kids will be unlikely to use loungers...and parents will be in the water with the kids...so you probably won't need 11 loungers, which will make it much easier to find your perfect spot! HOSKI Posted October 5, 2018 #4 Share Posted October 5, 2018 We rented a family cabana for our family so we have shade and a base while we enjoy the day. It also comes with a cooler of water and a server for drinks. I would recommend you rent one and you will be assigned a location. They are pricey but you can get a sale on them if you watch the Royal Caribbean site in your cruise planner. Also, if they go cheaper before you cruise you can cancel and rebook at the lower price.
