Upper berth or pullout sofa?

We are going to be sailing on the Brilliance in January and my 21 year old son will be sharing our room. We will be in a balcony cabin. Is an upper berth more comfortable than a pullout? Right now I'm holding a room with only a pullout but I could change. With three of us, should I go with a spacious balcony cabin instead?

It’s really up to you. I can tell you that I slept in an upper berth on a girls trip and it wasn’t bad at all - even on this 40+ year old at the time. The most annoying thing was the tiny ladder steps. Maybe for the convenience of being on the floor you could stay with the pull out and ask for a egg crate cushion.

As a 54 year old, last year, I did a cruise with my in-laws. My wife, my self and MIL shared a cabin, for expense purposes. The third berth was a pullman. I took the pullman. In years past I have have used a pullman or a pullout couch.

I much perfer the pullman. The only two downsides with the pullman is you have to watch your head, and the ladder steps treads are short. I recommend you keep socks on.

I've slept on both and 100% of the time I'd pick the pullman. I find the sofa beds not as comfortable and it e cannot be seems like everytime I requested the egg crate mattress topper they didn't have any available.

They no longer have egg crate toppers. Sanitary reasons - they cannot be washed.
