Bizi1 Posted October 1, 2018 #1 Share Posted October 1, 2018 We are going to be sailing on the Brilliance in January and my 21 year old son will be sharing our room. We will be in a balcony cabin. Is an upper berth more comfortable than a pullout? Right now I'm holding a room with only a pullout but I could change. With three of us, should I go with a spacious balcony cabin instead? plus1cruiser Posted October 2, 2018 #2 Share Posted October 2, 2018 It’s really up to you. I can tell you that I slept in an upper berth on a girls trip and it wasn’t bad at all - even on this 40+ year old at the time. The most annoying thing was the tiny ladder steps. Maybe for the convenience of being on the floor you could stay with the pull out and ask for a egg crate cushion. gatour Posted October 2, 2018 #3 Share Posted October 2, 2018 As a 54 year old, last year, I did a cruise with my in-laws. My wife, my self and MIL shared a cabin, for expense purposes. The third berth was a pullman. I took the pullman. In years past I have have used a pullman or a pullout couch. I much perfer the pullman. The only two downsides with the pullman is you have to watch your head, and the ladder steps treads are short. I recommend you keep socks on. PinkLemonade Posted October 2, 2018 #4 Share Posted October 2, 2018 I've slept on both and 100% of the time I'd pick the pullman. I find the sofa beds not as comfortable and it seems like everytime I requested the egg crate mattress topper they didn't have any available. Sanitary reasons - they cannot be washed.
Esmerelda Posted October 2, 2018 #6 Share Posted October 2, 2018 My sons both said the pullman was much more comfortable. It’s a real mattress vs a sofa laying flat.
Tee & Chilli Posted October 2, 2018 #7 Share Posted October 2, 2018 They no longer have egg crate toppers. Sanitary reasons - they cannot be washed. I’m on Anthem. Both beds have toppers when we arrived. We did not request them but happy to have them for better comfort.
