Anyone ever gotten a Haven room off a GTY booking with no upgrade?

As in booked a balcony or mini-suite GTY, and found yourself in the Haven. I'm sure it doesn't happen at all since the upgrade system was implemented, but has anyone ever heard of this before that?

Nope. Not that we know of.

NCL has always had an upsell department, selling suite upgrades at discounted price. We all dutifully called in about 2 weeks before cruise to try and get an upgrade to a suite (at a reasonable price). Sometimes, they sent out an email with the available suites on the ship. As NCL began adding a new megaship a year, the telephone call-in center didn't scale, so they went to an automated request system. So,,, NCL has always been about filling the suites for $$$ and not giving them away.

Could there have been a situation where they were oversold and needed to assign a suite to a less-than-suite room? Sure. There have been situations, like an over booked flight, where they could not fill all of the GTYs and were trying to get people to give up a room.
