reedprincess Posted October 7, 2018 #2 Share Posted October 7, 2018 Does anyone know if Sergio will affect cruises to Mexico? We are booked on the Star, Mexican Riveria, leaving the 13th from San Pedro. Hurricane/tropical storm is expected to - probably - make landfall sometime in Friday, the 12, most likely. Somewhere mid-Baja peninsula. . Shouldn't have much, if any, affect on your cruise - it will have made landfall by the time you sail, and it's forecast to hit any of the ports on your sailing - at least at this point. It would have to take a drastic change if course to be a threat to your ports.
Skai Posted October 7, 2018 #3 Share Posted October 7, 2018 (edited) I've been watching this storm since its infancy in the region that also spawned its predecessor Rosa. We sail South from SF next Sunday. Fortunately(for those cruising the Mexican Riviera in the near future), the current model will have Sergio passing over the Baja peninsula on Friday, and then continuing towards the desert SW over next weekend. Leaving from San Pedro on Saturday, you will likely have avoided the path of the storm by about a day(or two). There was also another invest that was forming in the same region off of the Pacific shore of C. America in recent days, but it got absorbed by the now named Tropical Storm(Michael) on the Carib. side. Michael is forecasted to enter the Gulf and develop into a hurricane that is expected to impact the Florida Panhandle later this week. As always, it's a risk to cruise the tropics during hurricane season, but as of now, minus the chance of (seasonal)localized T-storms on the mainland Pacific coast of Mexico, the next couple of weeks ought to provide for smooth sailing weather in the region. osofish2 Posted October 7, 2018 Author #4 Share Posted October 7, 2018 Thanks for the response. We live in Phoenix, and have been having record rainfall for the past week. Looks like Sergio may give us a little more!
