SFB to Port Canaveral?

It seems like, from searching the boards, a lot of people fly in to Orlando International.

I managed to find tickets at a good price that fly in to Orlando Sanford. What’s this airport like? How is the drive to the Port?

We will be arriving late, just before 9 and I have a rental car booked so we can drive to our hotel at the port (shuttles don’t seem to run that late).

How will it be driving back to catch our return flight? Our flight leaves at 3pm.

Any advice, or experience to share would be helpful!

Sanford-Orlando is a small airport, but a pleasure to fly into. No long TSA lines. The drive to the port and back also is an easy one. Take Rte-46 east toward Mims which is a two lane road and runs right by SFB. Then take I-95 south to Rte-528 east to Port Canaveral. It should take about an hour and fifteen minutes to get there. It’s a 65 mile drive. You should have no problem with the 3pm flight.

Skrufy is right!  Sanford to PC takes a bit longer than MCO to PC and one-way rental cars are a great option.  Have a great cruise!

You can use 46 to 95 ....

OR

you can also use 417 (toll) to 528 (toll) if you prefer interstate. 

46 is two lane so a bit slower, but less traffic than 417

there is signage to direct you to 417

 

if not getting in until 9 you may want to consider a room near 417 and the airport and drive to the port in the morning (daylight)

I’m totally ok with smaller airports! Hubby will be happy with that too - hopefully it will all go smoothly for us.

We flew into SFB and did a one way rental each way. I do not remember the Co. or any details other than to say we had no issues and it worked out great!!
