Opinions on Sea Princess

Has anyone been on the Sea Princess lately? I would really like to hear your thoughts as we will be on her for a 2 week transatlantic in April. Thanks!

It seems to me that the SEA Princess gets the least coverage on these message boards compared to the other ships of the Princess fleet.

 

I think this is mainly due to the fact that the Sea Princess is marketed heavily toward the UK passengers... I guess they have their own message boards :D

 

From what I have been able to read on these boards as well as other US cruise websites.... Sea Princess is a top notch ship.

Sea is in great shape, but the casino is small. The Brits are great fun, if a little difficult to understand at times. john

DH and I sailed The Sea Princess to the Caribbean in November of '05. It was our second sailing on that particular ship. We much prefer the smaller Sun class ships to the larger mega-ships.

 

Our most recent experience was outstanding. The ship is well maintained, the food is very good (with some minor exceptions) and the staff and crew were top notch. Entertainment was not the best we have seen, but then again not the worst. Ports of call were wonderful!

 

As you mentioned, this particular sailing is heavily marketed to the Brits. On our trip the majority of the passengers (75%) were from the UK, and there were subtle changes noticeable to the Americans.

 

Horizon Court offered baked beans, baked tomatoes and other favorites of the English passengers nearly every morning. Some items seemed a bit strange to the Yanks on board, but the usual American dishes were also available.

 

The casino was made smaller to allow several card tables to be set up for card games. We were told that this was done because the Brits prefer cards to gambling.

 

We thoroughly enjoyed all the people that we met on this ship, and cannot say enough good things about the Sea Princess. In fact, we booked the Sea Princess yesterday, for a return trip to the Caribbean in December of '06!

Sea Princess on our Nov trip was super. The ship is in wonderful shape, and the crew could not have been better. I highly recommend this ship. Enjoy!

We also agree that the Sea in November was one of the best Princess ships we have sailed on. Only drawback we found was the size of the casino onboard, very very tiny.

We will be leaving on the 12/23 sailing....sooo difficult to get a cabin as this itinerary is very popular, but we did manage to snag one after searching the internet for hours.

Given the number of Brits, was there more smoking going on than usual. If so would it become a problem for a non smoker?

We were on the 11/19/05 cruise and found that there seemed to be more smokers onboard. We are non-smokers and didn't find it problematic on the ship as much as on the islands we visited; especially the beaches.

That was my fear, but the answer is no, it was less than on Mercury. john

Glad to hear such postive comments about Sea Princess. We sailed on her several years ago and are returning again this summer for another cruise.
