sjde Posted March 4, 2021 #26 Share Posted March 4, 2021 (edited) So sandjforever, which did you take? And what did you think? Seems opinion were pretty equally divided. We are looking at the same question for next summer- the Discovery (Royal class , 3560 passengers) and the Emerald (Grand class, 3100) for Alaska. sewingmolly Posted March 14, 2021 #29 Share Posted March 14, 2021 My first choice would be the Coral Princess. It's my all time favorite ship. I love the layout and size. Second choice would be the Grand. I wouldn't sail on the Royal. The lack of a promenade deck is a deal killer for me. And then when you consider the additional passengers and the smaller balconies, the Royal seems a really poor choice for Alaska.
Esprit Posted March 14, 2021 #30 Share Posted March 14, 2021 Our first Princess cruise was on the Grand and loved it. Royal Princess is wonderful too but I prefer its atrium and the pool side areas. We are due to be on Enchanted Princess this July and if it’s cancelled we will rebook on another Royal class ship (but not any sailing out of Southampton). OhioDogLover Posted March 14, 2021 #31 Share Posted March 14, 2021 I vote Grand, but I like the smaller ships. Have sailed on both and had a great time on both.
