Edge app and android

I am getting the impression from some of the posts that I have read that while on board some or all the interactive apps require you to have an I-phone. Is this true? What about us losers with android phones?

The app is available for Android.  I've got it loaded now, even though my cruise isn't until August.  I do understand that it's not compatible with some older versions of the OS.

Personally, I do not like the idea of carrying my smartphone around on a cruise ship.I am on vacation and I do not want to be in touch with the outside world.

It works on Android but needs version 6.0 or newer. My phone had an older version so the app would not load. I bought a cheap phone ($30) at Kroger specifically for this use. It worked fine.

That's nice but other people like the idea of keeping in touch with the outside world. To each their own but your answer is not relevant. The Celebrity  app ( I believe that is the app they are asking about) is not about keeping in touch with the outside world. It has daily activities schedules, deck plans and can be used dining and excursion reservations. Also for checking onboard accounts.
