Was wondering how the high speed internet service is on voyages from Hawaii to Vancouver.  We are looking to do the sailing the end of April and wondered if it was worth adding this perk as a go better?  We already took the drink package and wondered if internet was a better choice or the pre paid gratuities.  thank you

First, let's not call it high speed internet.  Nothing like I get on land.  If you take that as a perk, you have to be patient.  You have to be aware that when at sea, there will be many logging on and this will further slow down the speed.  I know what I would do but you have to determine how important the internet is for you.

If you are Elite, you get 90 free minutes.  Also, before the ship departs, there is often a free trial between certain hours.

I have found the "high speed" internet to be better that the old internet. That said, not as good as what you most likely have at home, but hopefully you won't be spending hours and hours a day surfing the net, you'll be having cruise fun. I found it to be "acceptable" and I use it mostly to keep our business running.   We are Captain's Club select (I think) but what ever it is we get a 25% discount on internet and the better deal was pre-paid gratuities, when we did the math.

You have to ask yourself if you really need two internet ID's which is what you get if you take it as one of your perks.  Many, including us, buy one unlimited internet package and just use that userid/pw on different devices which is allowed (and works well).  The only caveat is that only one device can be signed on at one time.  My DW and I just share the ID.  By doing it this way, you are comparing the total cost of two passenger gratuities for the cruise vs the cost of one internet ID.  I suspect that gratuities are always a better choice....IF you can share one userid.  If you both need (or want) to be online at the same time (or you don't share well)...then you can compare the total value of the perk (2 ids) vs the gratuities.
