It's a decent pension, especially since Tennessee has a solvent pension fund, unlike some other states. Full pension is 30 years, but I'm not aiming for that.  I'd be almost 78!  We also have an option 401K which the state will match up to $600 per year.  It's amazing to me how many people don't participate.  "Grandma Roz" advises the new employees to sign up with their first paycheck so they don't miss what they didn't have in the first place.  Do they listen?  Not many do.  

 

I look forward to more travel in general, not just cruising, when I retire.  This past November I took a river cruise from Amsterdam to Basel.  I fell in love with Amsterdam, and it's one of the few places I've visited that I can honestly see going back to and spending a week.

How was your experience as a solo on that river cruise? Which line? I am slated to the same one this May.It's with Scenic and they had one solo cabin on the whole ship. I grabbed it and cannot wait to go!

Thanks to you I found out about Silversea. And now I am booked on a 0% supplement trip next March! It is a 13 day transatlantic with free air for under $5,000. Super excited!

Well, we're a quarter of the way through the year, but happy new year! This is my first time checking out this forum.  I've booked my first solo cruise for this December (Iconic Christmas Markets on Ama Waterways).  Lois, I have followed your posts on Cruise Critic for a while now!

Good morning, thanks.....I found a river cruise on UNIWORLD for a really good price for a solo...….no single supplement.

Just need to check the office calendar...…...cruise is on The River PO in Italy
