ano Posted January 2, 2019 #1 Share Posted January 2, 2019 So we will be in Santa Marta in April. Just there one day from an Oceania cruise. I don't think we have an excursion there and from what people are saying here, not lots to see otherwise. The CDC lists this as an area with Yellow Fever, but shots are expensive and I don't think required for our short stay. Does anyone think differently? Maybe staying on the ship is best. When we went years ago on a Panama Canal cruise. We did get the shots, because of several ports that required them. We were never asked, but I think they last a long time. We are going to Cartagena again, and I don't think we need to get shots again. I would probably not worry about it unless you are planning on going into the jungle or near marshes...Maybe ask a health nurse that specializes in travel vacinations. I think it is really up to you. thinfool Posted January 3, 2019 #3 Share Posted January 3, 2019 No shots are recommended for a port day visit in Colombia or any of the popular ports in the Caribbean. As for Panama, I have been there on several land based activities since the mid 80s, tho not in the jungle, and never had any shots recommended or required. ano Posted January 3, 2019 Author #4 Share Posted January 3, 2019 Thanks. We did find a place that gives them. About $300 but you only need it once. We'll probably pass but just use lots of bug spray. Probably no excursion that port, just walking around close, if there is anything to see.
