Upgrade offered Ocean Suite to Grand

Hi,

I was offered an upgrade from my Ocean suite to a Grand on the Pride.  Is this worth the upgrade?  It sounds like you gain a few feet, but I think the other amenities are the same.  The balconies look fairly similar as well.  It was an additional $550.

Somewhere here on CC a few years ago someone shared their rule of thumb on upsell offers: if the upsell offer cost ($550 in this case) is 30% or less of the difference in price between your booked cabin and the upsell cabin, take it. Otherwise, decline the offer unless you really want the upsell cabin. The GS does offer more space and we've booked them as well as OS cabins - we prefer the GS, FWIW.

This was about a 50% savings, but I think we talked ourselves out of it.  We'll save the money and book the pricey dive excursions instead.  I'm sure its a nice room, but I can't justify it for the extra footage alone.

Yes, I would do as you did, especially for only a 50% savings (versus the 70% guideline I mention). Have fun!

Good choice!  We had the Ocean Suite on the Pride before the Carnival 2.0 renovation.  I'm not sure if it's the same now or not, but our was still ample space for the four of us.  The perks are the same, so I would say you are good with the OS!  Enjoy your cruise!
