eltigre Posted January 21, 2019 #1 Share Posted January 21, 2019 I keep hearing to watch the sunset, see all the locals hanging out etc. on the Malecon. It is 8 miles long...Where is the center of all this action?
pizzalady1 Posted January 22, 2019 #2 Share Posted January 22, 2019 I would say that the best view would be on the beautiful lawn behind the Hotel National
cpayne Posted March 11, 2019 #3 Share Posted March 11, 2019 Anywhere along the Malecon in the area of the Hotel Nacional would be a good central location. On our way back up/down the Malecon at sunset there were people at all places along the wall. Not sure one place was better than the other. Another option is a CoCo Cab tour up/down the Malecon at sunset. You will have a place to sit and people watch.
victory2020 Posted March 11, 2019 #4 Share Posted March 11, 2019 How far is Hotel Nacional from the cruise terminal? Within walking distance? We like walking, so 45 minute or so walk wouldn't be out of the question,
cpayne Posted March 12, 2019 #5 Share Posted March 12, 2019 Google maps says 4+ km. Walking it says 51 min. You have to cross the Malecon and up a pretty steep hill to get there. Doing this at night in the dark may not be advisable? We love to walk too and if we had more time we may have considered this option. However, given limited time and soooo many things/places we wanted to see that wasn’t an option for us.
