RiVL520 Posted February 17, 2019 #1 Share Posted February 17, 2019 We will be stopping in Juneau, Ketchikan, and Skagway. Does anyone know where to buy small (1-3 feet) totem poles. Obviously we would prefer a “made in Alaska” one. Give me your best ideas!!! Thanks.
VennDiagram Posted February 18, 2019 #2 Share Posted February 18, 2019 Ketchikan has a number of good galleries. Google "Ketchikan Art Galleries" for a comprehensive list. Regardless of which port you purchase in, look for items that have one of these tags or stickers. Those ensure you are getting a piece that was made in Alaska. The polar bear is "Made in Alaska", the silver hand is "Native Made in Alaska".
Pebble Creek Posted February 18, 2019 #3 Share Posted February 18, 2019 We bought ours at the gift shop at Totem Bight State Park in Ketchikan. They had a huge selection of sizes and designs made by a local artist.
Northern Aurora Posted February 19, 2019 #4 Share Posted February 19, 2019 In addition to some of the prior suggestions, the Sealaska corporation (one of our ANCSA corporations) has a store in downtown Juneau -- the Sealaska Heritage Store. Very interesting to visit.
