minniem Posted February 18, 2019 #1 Share Posted February 18, 2019 Has anyone ever requested a foam mattress topper for the bed? Hubby has a back problem and will be miserable if the bed is too hard. We have cruised Princess and they do have toppers but when we cruised Royal Caribbean the room steward said Royal no longer supplies them. We have never been on NCL and I need to know before I book. Len wants me to call but I have learned customer service usually doesn't know what actually is happening on the ships and pretty much says whatever they think will make the sale. Thanks to anyone who can help.
n8botting Posted February 18, 2019 #2 Share Posted February 18, 2019 while i have not personally requested one, we just got off the getaway and i did see our room steward had some at his cart.
Adian80 Posted February 18, 2019 #3 Share Posted February 18, 2019 In the past when we've driven or had extra luggage space on SW we've taken our own. Is that an option for you? We were able to roll up and squish our king size mattress topper into a large suitcase.

I realize mattress comfort is a subjective thing, but we also have back issues and need TWO toppers to be able to sleep on RCCL's beds (and have not traveled on Princess again due to the hard mattress). We have had no issues with NCL beds, other than not wanting to get out of them. FYI, when you travel on RCCL again, send an email to the special needs department after you make final payment requesting a (or two if you need it) toppers. They have always accommodated us with this request.
crystalaziza Posted February 19, 2019 #5 Share Posted February 19, 2019 I totally agree with the comfort of NCL's beds. WOW!!!!!!! My sister even bought one of their toppers for her bed at home and loves it!!!! It would suck to get an uncomfortable bed any place!!
david_sobe Posted February 19, 2019 #6 Share Posted February 19, 2019 Yes, NCL has the foam mattress toppers. I have requested one.
MikeC1610 Posted February 19, 2019 #7 Share Posted February 19, 2019 We recently were on the Norwegian Jewel and our 9 year old daughter required 2 mattress toppers as she was sleeping on the convertible sofa bed. The "mattresses" on those things are rock hard. I'm stuffed how they expect that anyone could sleep on those without at least 2 mattress toppers. You should request 2 toppers as soon as you get onboard. We were told that they only have a limited number of mattress toppers and once they are gone that's it. Get in early to ensure you get yours.
